We loved this cottage. It provided everything we needed and was incredibly convenient. The cottage was clean, well stocked with supplies and very cosy. There is nothing better than snuggling in front of the open fire on a cold night or having a big bacon and egg breakfast. Richard was great to deal with and he was always prompt to respond to emails and provide the information needed. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
A great stay at Narcoorte in this home away frome home. Spacious and the three bathrooms are great when you are a large group. If you want to stay in a quintessential Australian country stone house then MaDonnell House is for you. Clean and tidy with everthing you need to enjoy your stay. The provided breakfast of bacon, eggs and tomatoes was of generous proportions and the bottle of wine on arival a nice welcoming touch. Our visit to Naracoorte was for sad family reasons with the passing of my sister. The original trip had been planed as an early Christmas family get together, this had to be changed two or three times just before are planed arival, after the cancellation deadline, all of the changes were handled by owner promptly and with consideration for are bereavment that was greatly appreciated . We would love to return and stay at MacDonnell House under happier circumstances so that we can enjoy the house and the districts attractions.
We stayed at MacDonnell house for one night during our Coonawarra wine and cave tour. We had the whole cottage to ourselves and really enjoyed the privacy and the well appointed facilities. The spa bath and the double shower were great after a big day in the car visiting wineries and caves. The complimentary bottle of local red was a nice touch as was the bacon and egg in the fridge for us to cook up in the morning before we left. The cottage is lovely and has all the modern conveniences and what looks to be a new kitchen. Our room had a king size bed in it which was comfortable. It can obviously accommodate bigger parties as there were other bedrooms which were locked. The local Chinese restaurant is a five minute walk down the road and really good and the town centre is not far as well. We enjoyed our stay and would go there again. Thanks.
This house was absolutely perfect for a short stay in Naracoorte. As well as being a beautiful old home with a lovely backyard, it had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, including a dishwasher, washing machine and clothes dryer. The breakfast provisions were very generous, including a huge package of bacon and a couple of dozen eggs. A couple of very minor issues we had - eg, the frypan and tongs needed replacing - were dealt with immediately.
This will be one of the best equipped Cottages, we have been. And we have travelled a lot..... Everything is there. Everything. Plus Welcome Gifts. And the Fridge has everything fresh for Breakfast. Local eggs and ham as well. Very good and very responsive. Kind regards. Joachim
We had a lovely short holiday in Naracoorte and the Limestone View was the perfect base for travelling around the area. The cottage was clean and had great amenities. There was more than adequate breakfast supplies. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for the four of us. Thanks Richard!
This was a great holiday house. The king and queen beds were plush and welcoming, and the breakfast provisions were more than generous for four. The children ( ( 9 and 10) immediately claimed the recliners for themselves while the Boxing day test was in progress. The spa bath was also fabulous, although it took a while to fill it was worth the wait. The location was great with such a short walk to the swimming pool. We would stay here again if we return to Naracoorte.
We were agreeably surprised at the quality of this stop-over from Melbourne, en route to Kangaroo Island. We would have liked to stay longer. It would be Ideal for a base to visit Coonawarra wine district. The cottage was clean and cool with air-conditioner on (very much appreciated on the 42 C day when we arrived), and later we viewed a thunderstorm from the verandah overlooking the town of Naracoorte. It is quiet and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast supplies were generous. Communications on the booking and to ensure all was well were efficient and friendly.
We had a wonderful stay at Pinkerton hill over the 6th - 8th of May. It is a lovely property and has plenty of space for large groups and was great for our family getaway. The house was spotlessly clean and the beds were more comfortable than those in our own home! They also had electric blankets which was a lovely surprise. The Spa bath was divine and the fully equipped kitchen was simply marvelous. The house is also away from main roads which meant it was very quite at night and allowed us to sleep well. Thank you so much to Richard & Judy for such a pleasurable experience!
Our stay at Pinkerton Hill might’ve been brief but it was no about enjoyable and relaxing, in fact when our time drew closer to an end, we found ourselves feeling a sense of sadness and loss. We hope that we can stay longer if we are ever lucky enough to return. Pinkerton Hill is not far from Naracoorte Caves, which was quite interesting but if that’s not your idea of fun then the adventure caving is highly recommended. For the warmer days, we had many a wonderful time at the Naracoorte Swimming Lake (it’s free entry too). For your pizza needs, we eagerly suggest Naracoorte Pizza house. It was definitely beneficial to us having these places easily accessible. We were a large group so we were pleasantly surprised when we discovered that Pinkerton Hill could accommodate our size quite comfortably. The cottage is so spacious and well equipped with utensils, cooking equipment, washing machine, dish washer, etc The spa provided much needed relief from all the physical activities but also much needed pampering from our daily lives! If you have little ones, they will receive endless joy from the swing set and freedom to run around on the large front yard. It was very special to watch this, however if you don’t have little ones, all you need to do is sit down at the table overlooking the swing set and lush green grass and it will make you forget about everything- it was THAT relaxing! And no house is complete without a BBQ. It was greatly appreciated on the warm days/nights for all our quality family lunches/dinners. Breakfast was made less stressful for us as all items were stocked and ready for us to enjoy. The kids loved being able to pick and choose their own breakfast cereals and the portions were suitable too. Coffee being on hand daily kept many people in the cottage happy and sane. The bacon was a standout, though and should come as no surprise that there was simply none left by the end of our stay. Richard and staff were exceptionally attentive to our needs and easy to communicate with throughout our stay. They were also understanding and genuine in making sure we were doing okay, which made a huge difference to our overall experience. Thank you for taking such great care of us from start to finish!
